Weekly Somatic Movement Classes
Somatic Movement classes take place at Cranberry Hall, Powell River, B.C. on Wednesday mornings. In class we explore the regular Hanna Somatics based movements each week, but in different sequences and with varying differentiations (our brains learn by noticing differences — we don’t ever want our practice to become habitual as then our brains aren’t learning anything new!) How we explore the movements is key. The emphasis is on exploration, play, curiosity and kindness. As somas we exist in time, there’s always something new to sense and become aware of! I am committed to ongoing training and am continually learning more to bring to my classes, via exploring and learning from my own nervous system and in formal training (most recently with Elizabeth Wakley CCSE, Somatic Movement for Life Calgary).

Classes operate in a series format (details below) in Autumn, Winter and Spring.
Cost: $16 per 75 minute class. Your somatic process is an integral part of your wellbeing. Sliding scale pricing available.

One-on-one Sessions
One-on-one sessions provide the opportunity to look at what is happening for you as a unique and individual soma. Together, we steadily expand your somatic awarenesses, starting with where you are right now, as we all come to this practice at different points in our lives with different needs. In our session we consider a combination of aspects such as your movement patterns, health concerns, injuries, lifestyle and mobility, and tailor the session accordingly to develop your somatic awareness in a safe, honest, mindful and compassionate way. Once you feel ready, my Wednesday morning class is the place in which you can develop your practice further (and of course, at home).
Five-Session Bundle: This package is ideal for both those just beginning their somatic journey and students who attend class regularly. Cost: $350
One Session: Sessions run 60-75mins and we will tailor our sessions to your requests and needs. Cost: $75
Sessions take pace at my home or yours (online also an option).

I have been taking Emma’s Somatic Movement classes since she began offering them five years ago. I became interested in Somatic Movement when I turned 60 years of age, as I wanted to be proactive in managing muscular and joint body pain that I was beginning to experience, and I did not want my body pain to become a chronic physical condition.
